Monster Fangirls 2: Electro Boogaloo

Should I move my lazy bum and do a weird holiday blog post to account for my unannounced hiatus? Yes. Will I? Evidently not right now.

Coming Home

A lot inspired this post. I'll spare you all the gory details, given that it would involve three separate stories. I'm going to tell you one.

Suzanne Collins, Scott Westerfeld, and Senator Stevens

I'm sure you guys already know what I'm going to say.
Today I logged onto Tumblr after a long day(or, rather, just opened the page-it's not like I ever log off)and found my dashboard full of the loading circle of death. Any of you devoted bloggers out there, you know the panic I experienced. Then I remembered the date.
It's Shutdown Day.
To be perfectly honest, I'm still confused. I'm not totally sure what's going on. But I do know that I have been informed that somebody is trying to take away my internet. Given that I'm a blogger, writer, fanperson, and possessor of several internet friends, I think you can see why this concept would be upsetting for me.
If anybody would like to step up and explain this to me a bit better, I would welcome it, 'cause I'm beginning to feel like I'm living in the future, and it is not Gene Roddenberry's.

Sing It, Daddy!

Given the news from the Supernatural offices, I think there's a subject we need to talk about.
Musicals.

A Collar of Shame

Whew! Fresh off a second vacation and several books, I have a brand-new review for you guys. I just finished this book this morning, but, to be perfectly honest, I can't shut up about it. Today's subject is Leigh Bardugo's awesome debut, Shadow and Bone.
Again, I'm tackling a very spoilery novel, so the only thing I can really say is, it's great, it's wonderful, go read it. It's got twice as many twists and turns as a roller coaster, so I wouldn't advise finding out much beforehand. Do yourself a favor and skeedadle.

The Age Gap

I've noticed a little something during my adventures in TVLand lately. I don't know if any of you are enlightened on the concept of Dawson Casting-actors much older than their characters, such as a 27-year-old Paul Wesley as a(sort of)seventeen Stefan Salvatore-but I'm beginning to wonder about another variant of thing syndrome of inaccuracy. Is there such a thing as Dawson Writing?

....On A Spiritual Level

After a long period of deliberation that involved very little active thinking, I've decided to venture into a scary, largely unfamiliar, and potentially disastrous area of blogging.
Insert a frightening finger wiggle and suspenseful music here.
I'm going to......
Review. That's right, cuties, I'm going to inflict my opinions on you. Without further adieu, our ruminating for today: Fangirl, by my very favorite non-fantasy author, Rainbow Rowell.
This boy's my first review because I, in a dry spot in my summer reading fest, decided to revisit it. And, boy, was it a good idea. I'm not quite sure of the best way to do this, so I'm just going to go through the various aspects and angles of this touching, funny book. Unfortunately, there's not much I can say about this book without spoilers, so if you haven't read it, I advise viewer discretion. Seriously, just go and read it. It's fantastic and you'll love every second.
FLY, YOU FOOLS.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Monster Fangirls

Malamorous; adjective; of a villain in a work, being appealing to fans despite being the antagonist of the work, often because of handsome appearance or justifiable motivation.
Lately I've been far too in love with villains.

Put the Angels Back In the Outfield

Congratulations, dear reader! You've just walked into my second certifiable, 100% pure fandom post. I pity your sanity from this point on if you continue into the wild, dark, fangirly recesses of my mind. I must, however, give a warning. If you're a watcher of SPN and a fan of a certain angel, may I humbly suggest you leave just about now. I'll try and not make this too...female dog-ish, but I can promise nothing when it comes to my complaints with fandom business.
Now, without further ado, my unpopular opinion essay on why I wouldn't exactly be sobbing if Misha left the show. Spoilers ahoy(SPN S. 5)

The Red String

I've been thinking a lot that if I'm not sure whether I want my two main characters to have tension, I should probably stop making them gaze longingly at each other.

First Impressions

"I'm in so deep."
I have heard these words in conjunction with exactly one topic: fandoms. And also maybe divers, I don't know. But fandoms.

Of Brownings and Blood

The strangest Google searches are those of an author.
Let me think. What have I referenced? Decomposition, ghosts, how long it takes to kill someone in various circumstances...and the weapons. So many searches for different knives and guns. I mean, how would the government feel if they knew some random person was suddenly doing copious research on what gun is appropriate for what task? Oh, wait, they do.

When Fandoms Suck

So, I feel a strong urge to rant today. I kind of wonder if I'll lose followers for this, as some might stop reading in about five seconds. Oh bloody well.
And what is this great controversial topic I'm speaking of? Pro-life vs. Pro-Choice? Gay rights? Religion?
Nope. Twilight.

The Truth Is Out There

Do you believe the voice?
.....
I want to believe.
Hello, there, my darlings. A little birdie today got me thinking about something. Surprise, surprise-today's post actually has a theme, and I can summarize it with the question: Do you believe?

Initiate Contact

Hey, you know what sounds fun? Creating a deceptively hipster blog.

Sometimes I laugh at myself. Sometimes it's very necessary.
I suppose I should introduce myself. Abigail, teenager, and professional fangirl. Member of a middling large family that's currently watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Do you see why I'm a little nuts?I must stop now and give a warning to the reader: this blog may be inappropriate for adults(for silliness, randomness, and explicit scenes of hopeless fangirling). Are you an adult? If you are, you outrank me and I can't stop you. Besides, I'm too frazzled from yesterday's Buffy marathon and the fact that this font is reminding me of my Lit assignments.
As I get older and older, I wonder if my general prejudice toward classic books was a strike of youthful idiocy. Then again, that's only accounting for a few good books(Harper Lee, I'm looking at you. Why did you only write once?). I make no promises for, say, Tolstoy.
What would these people do if they knew they were still remembered? I don't know about you, but I would love to see Lady Jane's reaction to Colin Firth. Or, better yet, Tolkien's reaction to Lee Pace and Orlando Bloom. Tell me it wouldn't be priceless. Make my day.
Wouldn't you want to be remembered?
Do you see what I meant about my randomness? I have met only a few people who've been able to keep up with my tangents.
Anyhow, I'll wrap it up. Beware the blog inhabited by Sam Winchester, Percy Jackson, Eddard Stark, Spider-man and Captain Kirk all at the same time.
May your swords stay sharp and your chocolate stocks always plentiful.
