The strangest Google searches are those of an author.
Let me think. What have I referenced? Decomposition, ghosts, how long it takes to kill someone in various circumstances...and the weapons. So many searches for different knives and guns. I mean, how would the government feel if they knew some random person was suddenly doing copious research on what gun is appropriate for what task? Oh, wait, they do.
On this, the day of fools and funnies(and also screamers and rickrolls), I will not be talking about any kind of pranks. Instead, I'll talk about something I actually know jack about.
Today, Camp NaNo commences. What is Camp NaNo, you say? I'll tell you. I don't know.
See, this is my first year doing off-season NaNo. But, as I understand it, it's essentially the same as November's run. You write toward a word count goal you set for yourself for a month and if you finish on time, you win and get bragging rights and a brand-new novel! 'Cept this time, you're sorted into cabins and basically have contact with only them(on the site, at least)for the month.
Well, of course, that'll go well.
My current project(among the way-too-many) is Seeing Red, which can be summed up as what would happen if Jim Butcher and Eric Kripke met up and somehow had a JF/YA love child. The Browning is one of my MC-Tay Rosewood-'s pet gun, though probably not the only one she owns.
The essential premise is actually pretty similar to Supernatural. Two people wander the ol' US of A, looking for paranormal fights to pick and both ending and beginning problems. The characters, backstory, and basically the entire plot and arc is very, very different.
I didn't think I would be seeing these days for a while. The days of wandering around in a daze after way too much writing, the days of late-night word wars and coffee, the days of your imaginary friends talking to you 24/7. Oh, well. Maybe my writing mojo will snap back into place.
To all those out there, good luck on your piece! I highly recommend chai and Murray Gold for the morning sessions and black+2 sugars coffee and David Lanz for the nights.
May your swords stay sharp and your chocolate stocks always plentiful.
